The Barrie Colts turned on the offence at Sadlon Arena on Saturday night, earning a 7–4 win over the Kingston Frontenacs.
Kingston opened the scoring at the 6:08 mark of the first period, as Cal Uens jumped in from the blue line and buried a rebound.
Barrie responded through Emil Hemming who capitalized on a bounce off the end boards to tie the game.
Anthony Romani beat Charlie Schenkel on the glove side to give the Colts a 2–1 advantage.
Before the end of the opening frame, Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Emil Pieniniemi put home the equalizer to send the teams to intermission tied.
Early in the second period, Riley Patterson restored the Barrie lead with a power-play marker. Cedrick Guindon quickly answered back for Kingston with his sixth of the postseason.
Patterson struck again, chasing Schenkel from the Kingston crease in favour of Mason Vaccari.
The switch briefly sparked the Frontenacs, as Tuomas Uronen tied the game.
Barrie continued its offensive push in the frame,with Grayson Tiller scoring before Brad Gardiner in his return to the lineup extended the lead to 6–4 before the end of the stanza.
The third period remained scoreless until Hemming sealed the win scoring an empty-netter with 1:03 left to play.
Patterson, Tiller, and Hemming were named the stars of the game with each having a three-point performance.
Sam Hillebrandt turned aside 39 shots in the victory, while Kingston was without veteran defenceman Maleek McGowan due to injury.
Barrie has now scored 13 goals through two games, as the series shifts to Slush Puppie Place for Game 3 on Tuesday night.
