The Brantford Bulldogs took game one at home 5-2 over the Oshawa Generals. Goaltender David Egorov came in after Ryerson Leenders came out of the game with an apparent injury. David Egorov made 22 saves on 22 shots in relief to save the day for the Bulldogs.
The Generals high flying offence came to play early with goals from Luca Marrelli and Owen Griffin to get a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Brantford settled the nerves in the second frame with goals from overage Thomas Budnick who drove through to the goal to get the Bulldogs back into this contest. Cole Brown would tie the game 7 minutes later ripping a shot over the glove of Jacob Oster. Two minutes later Luca Testa in front of the net poked one past Oster to have the eventual game winning goal.
Marek Vanacker and Nick Lardis would pick up insurances goal in the third that would put this out of reach for the Generals. Oster stopped 17 of 21 shots in defeat.
David Egorov and the Bulldogs will look to weather the Oshawa storm on Sunday when game two takes place back in Brantford at Civic Centre at 2pm.
