How Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields are the clear-cut top 2 Quarterbacks in next year's NFL Draft
This years' NFL Draft produced many franchise Quarterbacks. Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, and Jordan Love, were the consensus top 4 Quarterbacks, and they all have the talent to lead their respective franchises. Next year, their are 2 guys that are head and shoulders above everyone else. Trevor Lawrence from Clemson, and Justin Fields from Ohio State. Both Quarterbacks were consensus 5 star recruits. Rivals and 247 Sports, had Lawrence as the top guy, while ESPN had Fields as the top guy. Fields originally committed to Penn State, then decomitted and signed to play at Georgia. After one year in Athens, Fields decided to transfer to Ohio State. Last season Fields took off as the Buckeyes starting Quarterback, and looks to continue off his success.
Lawrence and Fields played high school ball roughly 30 minutes from each other, and know each other quite well. Last year in the College Football Playoff, Ohio State faced off against Clemson. All eyes were on Lawrence and Fields, as they were set to face off against one another for the first time ever. Lawrence finished the game with 259 yards passing, and 1 Touchdown. While Fields threw for 320 yards, 1 Touchdown, and 2 Interceptions. It was a game for the ages, with Clemson winning 29-23.
Both Quarterbacks will be Juniors this coming fall. Even if there is a College season or not, I still think Lawrence and Fields are the top 2 Quarterbacks in next years NFL Draft. Trey Lance from North Dakota State, Brock Purdy from Iowa State, Jamie Newman from Georgia, Kellen Mond from Texas A&M , and Kyle Trask from Florida are all players who have put up nice stats, however they aren't on the same level as Lawrence and Fields.
Clemson and Ohio State should be back in the College Football Playoff if there's a season. They both have great height for the position. Both Quarterbacks have great arm strength, and can drive the ball to their desired targets to any area of the field. NFL personnel have been drooling over Lawrence since he was a true Freshman. They need to start paying more attention to Fields, because he like Lawrence, is a franchise Quarterback. I can't wait to see who drafts these 2 Quarterbacks next April.
