The Oshawa Generals took care of business on the road with a 7–1 win over the Barrie Colts on Sunday evening at Sadlon Arena.
After back-to-back victories, Oshawa now leads the Eastern Conference Championship Series 2–0, with the series shifting to Tribute Communities Centre for Game 3 on Tuesday night.
It didn’t take long for the Generals to strike, as Beckett Sennecke opened the scoring just 24 seconds into the contest, burying the game’s first shot. The Anaheim Ducks prospect also delivered a tone-setting hit on the same shift.
Playing 4-on-4 after matching minors to Ethan Martin and Kashawn Aitcheson, the Generals extended their lead through Andrew Gibson to take a 2–0 advantage into the first intermission.
Oshawa continued their strong play in the second period, with Sennecke and Colby Barlow each converting on the power play before the midway point of the frame. Sennecke then completed his hat trick on a breakaway to make it 5–0 after 40 minutes of play.
The Colts would make a goaltending change to start the third period as Ben Hrebik came in for Sam Hillebrandt.
Less than a minute into the final frame, high-scoring defenceman Luca Marrelli added to the lead, before Gibson tallied again to make it 7–0.
Owen Van Steensel finally got Barrie on the board late in regulation, ending Jacob Oster’s shutout bid.
Game 3 goes Tuesday as the series shifts back to Oshawa's Tribute Communities Centre.
